This is the opportunity to experience firsthand the hospitality of the people, the beautiful and dramatic scenery, the natural beauty, the historical sites and the rich cultures of Ireland.

ITINERARY
Day 1 - CLONMACNOISE & GALWAY
Special note: If you are renting a car be sure to use Fintan Murray's service to transfer you to the Hertz location and Pilot you out to the N4
Traveling west towards Athlone on the N4 you join the N6. Just before Athlone you turn south and visit Clonmacnoise (HC), a 6th century monastic settlement on the shores of the Shannon River. You'll marvel at the 18 foot tall carved stone crosses with panels that depict the stories from the Bible. Continue on through Shannonbridge crossing the Shannon River to Ballinasloe, where each year they hold the Horse Fair, bringing horse buyers and sellers from all over Ireland and Europe. Continue into Galway, a vibrant city on the Corrib River and Galway Bay. Christopher Columbus stopped here on his way to the New World. See the Claddagh District, Spanish Arch, Eyre Square. Enjoy strolling its pedestrianized streets with shops, restuarants and pubs.

Be sure to stop in at the Quays Pub on Quay Street for good food and some traditional Irish music.Stay in Galway.

Day 2 - BURREN & CLIFFS OF MOHER
Tour south from Galway along Galway Bay through the village of Kinvara with its 15th century Dunguaire Castle. Drive on through the Burren - an area of limestone hills which supports a wide range of flora. Stop at Doolin where you might want to visit Gus O'Connor's Pub for lunch. Continue through County Clare along the Clare Coast to visit the Cliffs of Moher which rise 700 feet above the sea and extend five miles along the coast. On through Ennistymon and Ennis to Bunratty where you may wish to visit the Bunratty Folk Park and one of Ireland's oldest pubs - Durty Nelly's. You might want to take in some last minute shopping at the Bunratty Woolen Mills. You stop for the night at Shannonside and this evening you will dine like the Lords and Ladies of the 15th Century at Bunrattty Castle (Shannon Heritage.). Stay in Bunratty.

Day 4 - DEPART FOR HOME
Continue to nearby Shannon Airport. The drive is about 15 minutes. Check-in for your flight. Depart for home.

Optional Extension: You can return to Dublin by way of the M7 this morning. Tour finishes upon arrival in Dublin in the late afternoon. Return rental car or motorcoach tour ends.

Day 1 - GLENDALOUGH & WATERFORD

Tour south from Dublin, traveling south through the Wicklow Mountains and the region known as "The Garden of Ireland." At Glendalough (HC) take a tour of the 6th century monastic settlement, with its round tower and Celtic crosses. Drive south to Waterford, a bustling town on the River Suir. You can see Reginald's Tower (HC) built a thousand years ago! Thomas Francis Meagher, a General in the Union Army during the US Civil War and the first Governor of the State of Montana, was born here. Waterford is famous for Waterford Crystal. Stay in Waterford.

Day 2 - COBH & CORK
Continue to Dungarvan where you can visit Iona Crystal. Tour along the Celtic Sea through Youghal, where Sir Walter Raleigh was once Mayor. To Midleton, where you may wish to stop and visit the Irish Whiskey Distillery. On to Cobh, a harbor town and a major port of embarkation for emigrants going to America, You may wish to visit the Emigration Museum and hear the Queenstown Story. Continue to Cork City on the River Lee, a city more than 800 years old, the second largest city of the Irish Republic, lively and prosperous with a keen sense of its own cultural identity. Stay in Cork City or Cobh this evenng.

Day 3 - BLARNEY, CAHIR & CASHEL
Tour to Blarney where Blarney Castle, a 15th century McCarthy Castle, is legend. You can visit the estate and enjoy a stroll to the castle and then climb to the top and kiss the Blarney Stone. It is said that you’ll obtain the gift of eloquent speech by kissing the stone. Continue to Cahir with a visit to the 12th century Butler castle - Cahir Castle (HC). This has been fully restored to its original state. Tour to the town of Cashel. The impressive Rock of Cashel (HC) looms up in front of you as you approach the town. This cathedral-fortress dates to the time of St. Patrick when he used the shamrock as the symbol of the Holy Trinity as he converted the King of Munster to Christianity. Continue to Dublin through County Kildare. Stop at the Curragh and view the horse training in progress and see the ‘gallops.’ On through County Kildare, the center of horse breeding success in Ireland.

Day 1 - CASHEL & CAHIR

Tour from Dublin through County Kildare. Stop at the Curragh and view the horse training in progress and see the ‘gallops.’ On through County Kildare, the center of horse breeding success in Ireland. Tour to the town of Cashel (HC). The impressive Rock of Cashel looms up in front of you as you approach the town. This cathedral-fortress dates to the time of St. Patrick when he used the shamrock as the symbol of the Holy Trinity as he converted the King of Munster to Christianity. Tour the quaint harbor town of Kinsale. See the star-shaped Charles Fort (HC) at Summercove with its own ghost story; explore the town with its boutiques, shops, restaurants and pubs. Tour to Bantry with its beautiful Bantry Bay. At Glengarriff you can take a boat across Bantry Bay to Garinish Island (HC), where Agatha Christie and George Bernard Shaw used to vacation. Enjoy the Italianate Gardens and the Martello Tower. Cross the spectacular Caha Pass into Kenmare situated on the Kenmare River, a very picturesque town. Tour north through Moll’s Gap and stop at Ladies View for a panoramic view over the Lakes of Killarney and Killarney town. Stay in Killarney this evening.
